The Chestnut Ridge After School Program is an environment where children can enjoy natural fun and just be a kid. While time and space is provided for homework, there is also plenty of time for play and healthy interaction. We believe our students creativity is enhanced through a mix of structured activities and unstructured play.
Our after school students learn to entertain themselves without electronics. In exchange, they have the opportunity to enhance their self-esteem and social skills, increase personal responsibility, and develop good learning habits in a positive community.
We believe children need an after school environment that invites them to explore, create and experience the gifts of nurture and care. Our students are learning to live in Christian community as they learn by the example of our staff and through intentional activities. By coming together as a community after school each day, our students are learning through experience to put their faith into action.
Chestnut Ridge offers a special environment for our students. After being released from indoor classrooms, spending the afternoon outdoors provides many benefits.
Mission and Goal
The Chestnut Ridge After School Program provides a safe, fun and exciting Christian based environment for children in grades K-8. We are committed to providing children a place and a program that enhances self esteem and social skills, increases responsibility, and reinforces good learning habits in a positive community. The ministry is focused on meeting the informal learning needs of children in non-school hours. We believe children need an after school environment that invites them to explore, create and experience the gifts of nurture and care. To achieve this goal, the program will be facilitated by experienced staff, gifted in working with and teaching children.

Activities
We are excited to offer after school students access to many of the same programs that make our summer camp the best. After school students will have opportunities for swimming, canoeing, archery, crafts, hiking, games, volleyball, basketball and much more. Occasionally after school students will also get to do special activities such as hayrides, pony rides, s’mores, storytelling, and more to cap off a great week. Snacks and an optional home work time will be provided daily.
Staff/Camper Ratio: 1:10
Faith Practices
Each week, we’ll have a special theme for discussion. Some examples of Faith Practice themes are: Gratitude, Encouragement, & Grace. We’ll talk about the meaning of the theme, and how we can incorporate these practices into our lives.
