Woman with Turtle Chestnut Ridge is a year-round Environmental Education Center nestled in the heart of North Carolina on 362 beautiful acres. The hardwood forest, 10 acre lake, organic garden, as well as the facilities, make Chestnut Ridge the ideal location for environmental education field trips.

We offer a selection of over 30 informative, interactive and experientially-based programs to supplement and complement your instructional objectives. Each program has been assembled with a thematic unity and careful attention to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study (NCSCS).

The Outdoor Education department at Chestnut Ridge has been busy this summer working to build more new and exciting programs for the upcoming school year. We will be offering over fifty programs for teachers in preschool through twelfth grade to choose from! We know that teachers want quality programs that correlate with their curriculum, so our courses are directly aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study in the areas of science, social studies, English/language arts, and math! We have assembled the finest team of educators from a variety of backgrounds. Many of our educators are NC certified teachers who have experience working with environmental and outdoor education.
